**Globalgrind.com Exclusive**     A lot of people talking about what I twittered the other night…so I want to address it, now that I have had some time to do some thinking.  At 18 years, having grown up in the Mississippi Delta, I never thought my life would take me to where I am now.  All I wanted to do was make music.  All I thought I loved was music.  I would die for that motherfuckin music.  But, once I got a record deal and all these people around me trying to tell me who to be, what to do and how to do it, I realized that I wasn’t making music any more for the love.  I got into this weird place where I began making music for the money.  And I was making a lot of money…more money than I could ever imagine.  And with that money, of course, I could buy a lot of things…but to be honest, you can only drive that brand new phantom around the corner oh so many times… and when you are done driving, it really don’t mean sh*t.  I thought money was gonna bring me happiness.  And that is the farthest thing from the truth.  Money f*cks you up.

I know I might sound crazy, because a lot of you who are reading are probably like, I wish I had this ni**a’s money.  But, the truth is that money got me twisted.  All I want to do is go back to making music for the love of it.  The accolades and the awards are for everyone else.  The music is for me.  The music is my happiness.  So, of course I am struggling in my mind right now…cause I wanna get back to place where I woke up, thinking about what I was gonna write that day.  Where I went to sleep ready to dream about what I was gonna write the next day.

I know my fans.  And I know they will understand this.  This ain’t got nothing to do with y’all. Oh yeah... sorry to all my white peeps out there. I'm not racist :)   But I guess time will heal all wounds…

  • soulja boy i think hes correct and all u haters and money makers need to chill because one day u will be put in the same position and u will be sayin the same thing so just f*ckin chill and stop hatin u little b****es and actually listen to his music maybe u will understand.

  • I get what you are saying!! I'm from MS and I go to Ole Miss right up the road from you...I know how some are with they music around here...lucky for u, u had a chance to make it with yours..it's good you are being honest..you'll get back to how you used to b one day cuz u know your problem..just believe and you'll get ya love back!!
  • soulja boy is lame
  • i'm not a hater but soulja boy is wack
  • I'll be real about this .... Not to hate but I truly felt that your music was soft and corporate controlled from the moment I heard it. The rap game and hip hop is about a life story though the eyes of a fortunate or not so fortunate individual. Hearing you speak out about the way people have forced you to change your game up, just to play the game is real talk and it's nice for an artist to come out and finally say, " Im going to male change cause you have stolen the love of the game from me.". You have just made a fan out of me no matter what the next album in stores in like, no matter how tight the beat is on track two, but knowing your being real to yourself ... That's music ... That's hip hop .... and that's music that will live on for generations to come. Stay true to yourself man, and best of luck
  • You have to do what you do for the love, not for the money. Yes, being able to make that amount of money is an added blessing, but if you are not happy, then money truly make you happy.
  • I swear i saw this kid on jenny jones when i was younger
  • Money doesn't f*ck you up. The lack of money fucks you up. The lack of money accelerates death via poor healthcare, poor diet, financial stress, depression, etc. Money can prolong life and certainly increase good times. I speak from experience. I've been with money and without it. The problems are worse without it. Get money!!!!
  • xxxxx
  • I respect the fact of you being a honest man before a rapper, music maker, or whateva you would like to b. Souljaboytellem,as long as you stay tru to urself and never forget where you come from and alwayz put god first you will b just fine. I am a huge fan and let me b the first to say at 27 I have come to the relization that money makes the world go round but it cant change your heart.....stay tru boo....much luv and madd sucess
  • Dont worry about what other people have to say or what they want you to do or change you into. Honestly, they can take you for who you are or not have you at all, thats how I look at it. Theres to many fake people out there in the music business saying one thing &doing another, do your thing, but do it your way. As long as your happy, who gives a f*ck.

No, of course money isn't going to bring you happiness, it can only get you things that give you happiness for a little amount of time [hince the phantom].

Just do whatever makes you happy &don't let some company try changing it. You got a good thing going.

  • I may not have the cash but I hear your cry. U can't let the cash flow and the flow of voices/opinions being spit into ur ear dictate the love u have for your passion/music or minimize the excitement of writing rhymes and hearing urself tune through radio waves. Ur talent is a blessing. Ur right about hitting blocks with the phantom...but dig deep...be the souljah u were b4 the money...b4 the fame...remember ur wants and needs and maybe give them to that other souljah who has the dreams u once had...but don't stop there...be that mentor to him about the game of making millions...sometimes when u help out that needy person...whether it is support mentally or financially...it sort of helps younormalize ur life. try surrounding yourself with people of your likeness...regardless of financial status or color. Be u and let people know souljah boy lives by the rules of God first and then by his own...opinions are appreiated but at the end of the day the decision is urz and only u have to live with it. Jesus died so that we can fall and get back up again...he gave us the ability to make decisions...if bad then we r given the next day to correct them...

good luck in what ever u decide to do...
  • I Definately respect every word you said and can dig it!
