**Globalgrind.com Exclusive**     A lot of people talking about what I twittered the other night…so I want to address it, now that I have had some time to do some thinking.  At 18 years, having grown up in the Mississippi Delta, I never thought my life would take me to where I am now.  All I wanted to do was make music.  All I thought I loved was music.  I would die for that motherfuckin music.  But, once I got a record deal and all these people around me trying to tell me who to be, what to do and how to do it, I realized that I wasn’t making music any more for the love.  I got into this weird place where I began making music for the money.  And I was making a lot of money…more money than I could ever imagine.  And with that money, of course, I could buy a lot of things…but to be honest, you can only drive that brand new phantom around the corner oh so many times… and when you are done driving, it really don’t mean sh*t.  I thought money was gonna bring me happiness.  And that is the farthest thing from the truth.  Money f*cks you up.

I know I might sound crazy, because a lot of you who are reading are probably like, I wish I had this ni**a’s money.  But, the truth is that money got me twisted.  All I want to do is go back to making music for the love of it.  The accolades and the awards are for everyone else.  The music is for me.  The music is my happiness.  So, of course I am struggling in my mind right now…cause I wanna get back to place where I woke up, thinking about what I was gonna write that day.  Where I went to sleep ready to dream about what I was gonna write the next day.

I know my fans.  And I know they will understand this.  This ain’t got nothing to do with y’all. Oh yeah... sorry to all my white peeps out there. I'm not racist :)   But I guess time will heal all wounds…

  • money = power
    power=corruption?
    makes sense to me.
  • Ay soulja boy, i don't know how you really feel cuz i have never experienced that feeling before, but i have friends who have and you're completely right. you should go back to the way it was before money and fame came along, thats what my friend did and they are living the TRUE life that they always wanted. like my teacher always told me, "MAKE WISE CHOICES" peace
  • Money does not mess you up, it is your relationship with money that messes you up. Certain people get money and have not been trained about what to do with it. When you have money it only enhances who you really are as a person; and it seems as if you value money a lot, LOL. There is so much more in the world :)
  • Money enhances who you really are. Fame, fortune, and money do not make us different as people, the only difference is what you have been taught to value; and it seems as if money is what you value in life. There is so much more out there :)

  • da mo money yu get da mo problemz yu get...

  • Peopl really dont understand that money can either make you or break you. They think just having money is enough but its not. Being the last child of three girls and being raised by a single mother; I still received eveything that iwanted, but i had to work for it. Money can kill you or get your killed. Like the bible say "money is the root of all evil"

  • dis is easy...so easy. just gimme all of ur money and u be back to square one loving the music for reala. Also if dat nu phantom dont mean sh*t to u anymore, pass it here bro. I wud carve ur idol in my room (not wood but bronze) and worship u all day n nite..for reala
  • Well I don't have your money and I think I'll never have it. But a many circumstances of life taught me that money can't buy happiness.

    My MAMY grew up with no money, had to run away from her country (Angola-Africa) because of the war and in Portugal (where they took refuge) they were very badly treated and discriminated, but she was happy. And when my parents had me and my sister they gave us everything they could but since my PAPY died NO MONEY IN THE WORLD can make me happy just the people I love can do it, loving me back.

    What you are doing is very brave. I love your music and I hope to hear back from you.

    KISSES : )

  • yeah, that explains exactly what the song sucessful is all about.
  • that explanis ur song succeful.
  • Money can do that to you. It's how you handle it that counts. You gotta keep your eyes on the prize and what you believe, and try not to lose focus on what's really important to you.
  • sh*t real with souljaboy..alot of stars can probably relate to where he's coming from but on the other hand alot of them start doin drugs and stressing out..i dont think soulja will make that left turn so..he'll get over it
