I'm off to South Africa for Russell Simmons Diamond Empowerment Fund. DEF is a non-profit organization that aims to empower disadvantaged people in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource, through education. Some people online have been judging me for my charity work with the DEF. No charity work should ever be judged, it's just wrong. We can all do something to help!

I am so excited about the trip! Has anyone ever been?? Or is anyone from South Africa?

Well i am not judging kim, but she is not the type of person we need here in Africa, she is just not a role model and the rise to fame is all wrong! Is this the type of role model we want for our kids? Go to the playboy 2007 edition and you will find her spread naked all over also kimsuperstar.com, the sex tape! She is just out to get Africans to like her and it aint gonna happen, ppl like Oprah is what we need or Ash Rai not a porn star!

There are two things Kim Kardashian cares about and the real reasons for her trip to Africa: shameless self-promotion and desperately trying to transform her image(making people forget that her fame/infamy started with a sex tape)

She's famous for being famous and Russell should be ashamed of himself for supporting someone like her - it goes directly against what President Obama and I stand for. She's a superficial person whose popularity is supported only by superficial people like her.

You are tarnishing your image, Russell Simmons.

if you think that a college education is a requirement to make a difference in someone's life, then u definitely got it twisted. there r so many people that have done amazing things to help others that aren't educated formally.

and as 4 the trash talk on kim, neither u nor i even know her like that to be judgin. i hope you realize that her t.v. show doesn't tell u everything about who she is.

so maybe u should mind ur own business cuz right now it seems like u got none.

I was born in Nigeria, my parents had to bribe people so my brothers and sisters could go to school everyday. So for all you ungrateful, narrow-minded, pampered people who are talking about people trying to make a difference...until you live in a third world country with no electricity or running water for 3 years (3 continuous years) please refrain from commenting on the effect ANYONE can have in Africa. Even if Kim makes one person smile and not think about their daily struggle, she should feel proud, because that is the hardest thing to accomplish in any african country...keep it up kim, reggie, russel, rev, and anyone else trying to make a difference.

I think that many of you are forgetting that she is the girlfriend Of Reggie Bush and he did in fact attend at least some college. He is Black but happens to have a non-black girlfriend who is a celebrity of sorts. She does in fact have a huge following and is a household name here in the US. Her support and involvement might get others who idolize her and her celebrity status who otherwise would show absolutely no interest in the project to get involved. Not all motives are to be questioned. Even if it were just a trip that Russell suggested to her and one that opens her eyes and views it is still a form of progress!

I've watched her reality show a couple of times. Based on their (Kardashians) everyday comments, it seems as if a majority of posts singing the glory of KK were put here by KK's camp.

I wish that we would just ignore them. She became famous for screwing a man and leaking the tape. It was hilarious when they tried to leak a tape of one of the other sisters and it didn't fly.

When she gets to Africa and those bugs bite her big butt, she'll walk on water to get back home.

People are so negative. It's just sad. If you are stagnant in your life you should have nothing to say about the way someone else is chosing to live their lives. Especially if they are trying to make a difference. Any little bit counts. Kim K. is a human being just like you and me. Nothing more nothing less. Just because the person is living their lives in the public eye does not mean they want to be ridiculed about every wrong and right step they take. half of you commenting on this if the world knew your bedroom habits alone you would be deemed every word in the book that is synonymous with harlot and a lot of you talking smack are likely broke and unemployed; handle your battles before you start shooting strays at someone you barely know. So fall back on Kim and GlobalGrind for doing something positive. If you have nothing good to say then shut the hell up.

- Is so lame how she has her people stickin up for her on this site. Obviously this comments her on her defence. You are what you are and nothing is gonna change that. She definitely enjoyed being known for whatever it was at the moment. But know she knows that is not the best way to become famous or to be recognize.Our young people are being taken by this fake image that they create to make money for themselfs. They see her glammed up in photos and they ignore That there is so much more than that. She doesnt know anything outside her lalaland world. My question is simple and can someone plese give me an answer that make sense> How has Kim Kardashian help to contribute to the needs of the less fortunate?? What kindda of charity work has she dome previously?? What kindda education has she recieved?? What kindda of good humanitarian work have she done or have to share with this people?? What kindda of talent does she possess?? This woman should sit down somewhere at a University and get an education for herself before she tries to have people follow her.Or she can just keep her great contribution to the world by making photoshoots,magazine pread and hosting party's or just going to all the "it" places just to get a photo taken and get on the news. I must agree with some of the comments that have been posted on this site. Kim is a celebrity known for shopping, exposing her face and body, and of coarse the famous sex tape. I do not think she is doing any wrong in going to Africa to try and make a difference, but if they are going to send someone over there, at least send someone who has some type of college degree, at least an AA to back her up. So far, I have not seen Kim with any education goals for herself, how does she expect to go to Africa to help out thousands of kids that are poor, with no education, and are in the desperate need of some guidance. I think they should send someone that has some knowledge with that kind of world. Kim is all about diamonds and the fabulous world. NOT EDUCATION. Kim, you should really try to get another profession, because education is not one of your strong skills.

- I can see where you're coming from on the education front, but this is a trip that will most likely change her worldview. She may come back and get an education because of this whole experience, and maybe attract more people to donate to the Diamond Empowerment Fund.

- At the danger of repeating myself - how has Kim's visit to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina change her? She pretended to care on film for the ratings purposes. She and her wealthy sisters could not even reach into their own pockets to help that family, instead, she picked up the phone and called to see if she could get a donation from Reggie's Foundation. How shameful!
  
  I haven't read anything on the news about her making any sort of charitable contribution/good deed since then, and I'm sure we'd hear about it because she has the pappz following her everywhere. Kim is only about Kim and Kim's money.

Does anyone really believe kim is going to come back from africa a changed woman? I doubt it. Obviously, she feels she needs to change her life, why else would she say that on twitter then? Russell seems to like working with a certain type of woman, a woman who needs to change her lifestyle, hope kim changes hers. I think the trip should open her eyes and make her realize there is more to life than bentleys and louboutins ! I mean someone should tell her that bentley of hers could feed a village for eternity ! Honestly, i think she'll come back the same stuck up snob and go right to robertson blvd where she can shop and have paps take pics of her. Hopefully i'll be wrong.

- It's too bad Russell doesn't realize that Kim's huge following consists of very young kids - mostly teenagers. How exaclty would this following help Education in Africa it's beyond me. and yes, I do agree that Kim's lack of a higher education is also a reason why she's the wrong person for this mission. And no, it is not going to change her - did her visit to the New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina change her? Thank you.
