Jim Jones has been in the game for over a decade, yet in the last couple of years, the "Capo," of The Dipset, has been killing the Mixtape scene. No, he has not been doing what Lil Wayne has done, but Jim Jones has strategically dropped Mixtapes and singles that have gotten him more cult following than in times past.
Jim Jones is no Jay-z but he seems to have the knowledge to hustle like Jay-z does. Oh yea, he has Dame Dash ridding shot gun with him as well. I guess the old mantra is true, if you can't beat um join um. This seems to have worked very well with Jim Jones, he is building his street cred day by day, he is doing it the old fashion why, and that is getting arrested. But can all the trial and tribulation get Jimmy what is seems to be looking for the most, and that is the pop attention he seems to craze.
He has been grinding hard in the streets, but after years of working hard, the streets love him, but the deep pockets he desires don't live in Harlem, and those pockets desire artist who have the ability to be pop as well. Does Jimmy understand the street concept of selling out or does he "love the Doe," more. Jim Jones has been working with producers that can give him more of a crossover sound, such a producer worked with Jay-z on 99 problems. Rick Ruben is like a God for many rappers. A track from Rick almost certifies you as arriving on the stage of music. Because, most, if not all of Rick Rubens tracks either win awards or go platinum. Is this the type of attention Jim Jones is seeking, after spending the last couple of years on an independent label?

I really think it does not matter, Jim Jones has proven that he has the staying power, and he has proven he has the talent to move unites. The question will be does he has the talent to push beyond just another rapper, does Jim Jones have the ability to become a rapper that just does not transcend rap, but can he transcends music.
