***UPDATE***
NEW YORK On Tuesday (August 4), a Manhattan judge signed an order that will see former Bad Boy recording artist and onetime Sean "Diddy" Combs protégé Jamal "Shyne" Barrow receive two-and-a-half years of post-release supervision stemming from his 2001 conviction and sentencing in the infamous Club New York case.
An attorney for Shyne — born Jamal Barrow but now going by Moses Levi after converting to Judaism while in prison — said that the order marked one of the last remaining hurdles in the way of his client's release from prison in October.
"He's about 90 percent of the way home now," attorney Oscar Michelin told MTV News following the hearing.

Shyne, who is patiently awaiting his release from prison, is scheduled to have a parole hearing today. Shyne has served 8 1/2 years of a 10 year prison bid so far for being involved in the New York club shooting on December 27, 1999. Shine’s confirmed release date is October 6, 2009. Although the release date is confirmed, the hearing today will sort out the finer details of his release, including whether or not he’ll able to resume his recording career.
There is a rumor swirling around that Jay-Z visited Shyne a few days ago in prison to offer Shyne a record deal with Roc Nation. This is strictly a rumor and it hasn’t been confirmed… We’ll keep you updated!
