Badly behaved celebrities and tough times have pushed more people to improve their etiquette in a bid to gain the edge over job rivals — and inspired books such as How to be a Hepburn in a Hilton World.
Author Jordan Christy, 24, said she wrote the guide to “the art of living with style, class and grace” after celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Christy’s book has chapters titled “Keep your chin up and your skirt down” and “Let him come calling”. A resurgence in etiquette is also the force behind reality TV shows such as the US’s Charm School and the UK’s Ladette to Lady. — Reuters
