The newest Real Housewife of Atlanta, Grammy-Award winning singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss, appeared on Good Morning Atlanta today. Kandi discussed her relationship with her fiancee A.J. and the strain its caused on her relationship with her mom.
A.J. has six children with four different women and mom doesn't approve. Kandi openly discussed this subject and "the tension, and the ongoing arguments and stress" between her and her mom. She states it "has caused issues in my relationship". When asked if her mother's dislike of A.J. has caused her to reconsider her situation, Kandi took a deep breath and responded "well um, we haven't set a date yet", "we don't know what's going to happen". That's when I realized that Kandi was sans her 4 carat diamond engagement ring. Was I the only one who noticed the naked ring finger? In an interview earlier this week with BV Newswire, Kandi further talked about the stress that RHOA has had on her relationship with A.J.. "I feel very bad that he is catching so much heat for just being in a relationship with me, because he didn't sign on to the show I did," "And I feel bad for him and his kids. The kids come over here all the time. A lot of them are older and they are on the Internet and seeing the things being said about their father. I felt horrible, [but] there is nothing I can really do about it." Relationships are hard work enough without adding four baby mamas, a disapproving mother, and negative press about your fiancee, so I wouldn't be surprised if this all proved too much for the couple to bear. Kandi is working on a new album scheduled to be dropped in October. Featured on the album will be Tiny, GucciMane, Rasheda and Rick Ross amongst others. The first single to be dropped is "I Like Him" featuring Rick Ross. I wish Kandi much success with her new album. I like Kandi a lot, after all, she is the only self-made "Real Housewife of Atlanta". She is successful in her own right and not dependent on a husband, boyfriend, or any man for her financial stability. I hope she works out her relationship with her mom and her relationship challenges.
