When You Forgive You Are Giving A Gift To Yourself

I have 2 dogs. Pops is my 5 year old english bulldog and Sophie is my 2 year old briard. They couldn't be more different. Pops is short, fat, snores like a grown man, he drools, farts and makes me laugh all day long. Sophie looks like a giant teddy bear. She has lots of hair that I have to brush regularly so that it doesn't mat. She's goofy, energetic and if I don't take her on a long walk she follows me around from room to room until I do. She also happens to be a fierce guard dog. I love them both. Really love them. As my mom says they're my four legged children.

When I read Michael Vick's apology letter yesterday, I had mixed emotions. At first I was angry. I had visions of the news reports over a year ago and what he had done to all those dogs. On the other hand, I wanted to believe that he was really sincere, that he's a changed man, and I was actually happy that he's back at work.

This morning as I was finishing my meditation (thanks Russ). It occurred to me that forgiveness is not for the person who is being forgiven. Its for the person doing the forgiving. We forgive so that we can release the burden of negativity that we hold toward the other person. And it is not our place to judge another man. When you forgive you are giving a gift to yourself. And so I forgive Michael Vick... Not for him but for me...

I think this is funny. You can go on youtube and learn other people in this world eat dogs. That is some f**K up s**t so I find all hype around this football player stupid. Im sure the ppl that eat the dogz kill them more horriably than Mike was doin it. By the way I really want a german Shepard but dogz are too expensive to take care of if u live in apartment, they really need space to run around while u gone. U really need to type CHINA and DOGS, also in our cournty there is WOLF HUNTS wtf ??!?!?!

LOL, darn it all.... I am a work in progress with the scripture's and the bible,but I am a child of GOD...

And I think the scripture in the bible goes a little like this.... "HE THAT IS WITHOUT SIN, CAST THE FIRST STONE".

How about we focus our attention and energy on things that deserve's the attention and energy! Ohhhh, I got it.... How about you raise concern about how Im living in an all black city.... It's owned and operated by the black community..... We have an all black police force.... But with all of that, there is police brutality....Yep, you guessed it,black police officer's are running a muck here!!!! So let's talk about how we,as a people, can bring unity in the black community!?!?! Because putting obama in the whitehouse, didnt do anything but make the black community even more cocky. So let VICK make it, and let us all focus on things that are of the essence!

Sanaa, thanks for that message about forgiving for yourself. I am not going to get on the bandwagon of Michael Vick's transgressions, but just wanted to throw this out there....

"If you forgive those who sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15....

"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remeber your sins. Put Me in rememberence; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted." Isiah 43:25-26.....

I am in full agreement with you... well said sista! my family have three mini dachshunds and they are part of our family. I was hurt by the Vick story, but I feel the man is really sorry for what he has done. people need to get over it. he now is in the position to change the culture of dog fighting for the younger individuals who see this as a sport. he step up, stated he was wrong and taking responabilites for his actions. As a animal lover and ower I stand with Michale Vick and support him as he reinvents himself. I say to Michael onward and forward brotha!

I'm probably going to have people hate me for sayig this but if Michael Vick wasn't sorry, i wouldnt care. People act as if he took a human life. Ridiculous jail time and now apolozing to you PETA types... it ridiculous. Let the man live. He made a mistake and he did time for it.(Which i think was to long)But the man paid his debt to society and people still want to throw it in his face. Why don't we fight for human right as much as we fight for some damn animals rights? Some ppl have committed worse crimes against man kind and have served less time. Lets fight for those victims rights. Its just ridiculous. I've said it before and I will say it again... They are animals, and when they are harmed it is sad but no animals life trumps he life of a human... alot of you forget this and it annoys and disgust me to know this!

oh please. get over it already. the man is going to deal with what he did everyday. he has beeb punish and still being punish for what he did. who are yall to judge him, that is not yall place. everyone deserves a second. so stop hating on hom and pray for yourself for being so ignorant. mike vick keep doing what you have to do to make it. only god can judge and he the only one that knows if yor are remorseful. our god is a forgiving god so dont worry about no one who wont accept you.
