Barack desided it would be more important to the campaign for the presidency to concentrate his efforts on voters that don't know him. Tavis wanted him to come to his state of the black union address. Michelle wanted to come in his place and Tavis said that would be "inappropriate."

Yea I have all the respect in the world for Tavis Smiley, but he's goin overboard with not allowing our future First Lady to represent Barack at this forum.

Tavis is looking very immature right about now. This ordeal has reminded me that Tavis was fired from BET; he didn't quit. He had no problem w/BET's programming, videos, etc. until he was asked to leave. I'm trying to remain objective. However, Tavis is more concerned w/selling his books and tickets sells for his town meetings than what is good for Black America. Perhaps he should create a convenant between Black men entitled "am I my brother's keeper".

Im a huge tavis smiley fan, and i was pretty upset with him with the way he reacted.He acted as if Michelle wasnt a worthy emmissary for Barack. If im not mistaken Obama asked a few people to speak to tavis for him to reconsider yet he turned them down.dunno tavis dissappointed me greately
