I decided on my choice of career at the age of 15 because my dad was a musician and I loved recording with him.

Of all the collaborations I’ve done, I have to say that I really enjoyed working with Jermaine Dupri. He has a totally different style to mine and it was nice to work with someone who has different ideas to mine.

The process of writing for me is quite easy because I write a lot from personal experience. All I need is to get into the studio for the creative juices to flow.

I started my own record label because I was tired of not knowing who to blame when things went wrong. When it’s someone else’s label, it’s hard to find out exactly who to point the finger at when everything becomes a mess.

I wrote the song Power of Love for Kelly Khumalo. She once said in an interview that she’d love to record a song with me, so I looked up her music on the Internet and thought she had a great voice. Then her people called my people and that’s how the song came about.
