to---Cmysta82 popular votes?? its the electoral votes that gets you elected smart ass...obama won states that's been republican states for 40 yrs.....George W. Bush didn't win the popular votes in his 1st presidential election but still got elected....Obama's the prez so just get over it & he will win again in 2012....

  The popular vote represents the actual people of this country who participated in the election. Therefore what I said in particular about the percentage of actual people who voted for either candidate STILL STANDS as it pertains to this discussion.
  
  The electoral votes are based upon the number of representatives for each state in the union where *surprise* from which the popular votes were taken. Some states carry more votes than others. So while the numbers were separated by a large gap in the electoral vote, the votes that REPRESENTS THE PEOPLE was separated by just 3%.

- And yes Bush did win with less popular votes, but depending on the states won, he could still win by electoral vote. So if we weren't happy with Bush losing the popular vote and still winning, and Obama won by popular vote (close race there buddy), why are we using the electoral vote at all?

I am a AFRICAN AMERICAN and PROUD OF WHO I AM!!!! And it makes me SICK to see people come and say the things they say not understanding half of the goverenment system put on tv...im goin to college to try to work my way into the system so i can be like another non-white person coming for change.....OBAMA is HALF WHITE AND BLACK so he is not speaking on one color he is speaking ON ANYBODY WHO HAS EVER BEEN CALLED OUT OF THEIR BIRTH NAME....HILTER was a BUTTHOLE WHO DIDNT LIKE ANYTHING DIFFERENT IN GENERAL... - 53.4% of the popular vote isn't exactly landslide. That's close. Therefore 55% of the current opposition the the President's plans can't all be racist. Some of the 53.4% that voted for him are now against him.

Cracks me up that the nitwits carrying these signs could not even give you a definition of Marxism or half the things they accuse Obama of being. They are just repeating the right wing, lame brain rantings of Hannity and Beck. Bush put this country back 50 years in a host of ways. Too bad the idoits on the right refuse to cop to it. To all my black friends living in squalor, your oppressors are, in fact, the Democratic leaders who pretend to be your friends. Their social programs that would seem to help are instead harming you and robbing low-income families of the opportunity to succeed by taking away the motivation to pursue prosperity. The American Dream is for everyone not just geeky white guys like me. Check out the current writings of a true black scholar Thomas Sowell. This is very sad, sad, sad. I am so surprise and not understanding why there is so much hatered? I knew it was still around, but I never knew it was this open. Do I still have to worry about my kids growing up in a world and being picked on because the color of there skin? I seriously pray things change for this country. I hope my prayers are much more stronger than the ones on that church that was prayer for our President to die...God bless us all and in the mean time help us all!

I'm speaking directly to the intelligent people on this post who support Obama's policies.

When Wilson interrupted the President's address to Congress, calling him a liar when it came to coverage for illegal immigrants, did you believe the President or Wilson? Did you read the CRS report (Congressional Research Service, the report directly to Congress about the bills they work on, unbiased report) which supported Wilson's claim? Two days later, the Senate made moves to close those loopholes and the news never covered the story, keeping you guys in the dark.

For a President and Democrats who care about lowering the cost of healthcare for everyone, are you aware that tort reform was killed and expanded upon in Congress just days ago? Tort reform has to do with malpractice lawsuits against doctors. Tort is between 2-10% of the total cost of healthcare. At the minimum, this costs us $40 Billion/year. If Congress limited it (if it was about saving money), we could have saved up to $400 Billion in the next ten years! (8 times more than Obama recieved from the pharmacuetical companies). Does that make sense?

For those of you not seeing anything wrong here, I suggest you take off the rose colored glasses you've worn since the innauguration and WAKE UP!

  I'm sorry, and this may just be me, they are here ILLEGALLY. You can't compare this period of time to the past. The laws didn't exist then not because this nation was being "nice and friendly" to other nations: they needed workers. People to build this country. The laws have been on the books for years with this current issue, but have yet to be enforced. Surely you realize the difference.
  
  As far as the poor, yeah I feel sorry for them, what kind of person would say no?! The problem is you are asking a question that nobody would/could refute and that has no room in this debate.

- The new healthcare bil is not about saving money or tort reform, which by the sucks for doctors because they still have to worry about lawsuits.
  
  This Healthcare bill is about HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE THAT IS A CITIZEN OF THIS COUNRTY. cause when you have a relative and you are dead ass broke you will appreciate this bill.
  
  So when Wilson decided to call the president a liar it was on the issue of illegal immigrants having access to this healthcare coverage, and because he was so pissed about this particular issue he couldn't control himself.
  
  And to prove this i suggest you read the bill yourself/ (opencongress.org) read it for yourself it's all their for all us to read so stop regurgitating what you hear from the left, and the right, and do your own research so that your words don't go to waist with ill-fashioned statements like these.

  Concerning the 95% of small businesses that will NOT be forced to cover their employees; thats true. 80% of our nation's workforce exists due to small businesses as a whole. BUT....of the total amount of small businesses, the 5% that WILL have to be forced to cover their employees employ up to 70% of this nation's workforce.
  
  We are in a recovery period that may take years. If the funds required to keep a certain number of employees are taken to fund other endeavors, there is less money to pay the salaries of the employees. Which means, less employees can keep their jobs.
  
  5% of small businesses that employ more than half of the U.S. workforce suddenly being forced to give up their business earnings. It doen't take a genius to figure this one out people...
  
  @Cali, MywayNYC could tell you, I don't usually respond to namecalling. You lose the debate as soon as you resort to doing that just like the idiots holding the signs above. As I said when I began this post, I'm talking to the "intelligent" Obama supporters.

I'm half black and half white, i have dealt with a lot of racism from both black and white and I'm tired of the whole subject.

I walk with my eyes wide open everyday and i hear what is being said, but i refuse to live by the status quo about racism.

Since we have a black president i can see the opposition more clearly now then ever before, and i think that is good, so that we can see who is our friends and is not, that is becoming more apparent everyday with this president in office.

I would like to see a United States with more emphasis on UNITED then Divided and we have come a long way but there are those who actions speak volumes on where we stand as a community and a race.

We just need to heal ourselves so we can help others.
