The Cast Of "The Impossible" Talk Reliving The 2004 Tsunami & Doing Victims Justice

Posted January 2, 2013 by Rachel Hislop for Global Grind Staff

The year 2004 may be eons from our recent memory, but one tragic event that cannot be forgotten is the tsunami that erupted as a result of earthquakes in the Indian Ocean and ripped through Thailand just a day after Christmas.

As a result of the tsunami, an estimated 227,898 people lost their lives, with 170,000 of these deaths estimated to be in Indonesia.

On the day of the Tsunami, Maria, Henry and their three sons were halfway thorough their winter vacation in neighboring Thailand when they were caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time.

The Impossible, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, captures the true story of the family as they struggled to survive the storm.

GlobalGrind's Ben Lyons had the opportunity to sit down with the cast to talk about the journey of reliving this family's experience for The Impossible. Check out the interview in the video above.
