Gabby Douglas might have two gold medals, but up until she reached a stunning level of stardom, the 16-year-old lived a hard life.

The Olympic champion told Vanity Fair she faced even more racist remarks from the staff at Excalibur Gym in Virginia – the same gym where Gabby was tormented by fellow gymnasts.

Apparently one of the employees thought Gabby’s nose was too wide and flat!

Gabby says an Excalibur staff member told her she might want to consider reconstructive surgery on her nose because of its flatness. Some other gymnasts had teased Gabby about her appearance, and she found the nose comment “very hurtful.”

The pranks and mental abuse didn’t stop there. They even stole Gabby’s clothes!

One day in 2010, in a rush to get to the gym, she left her clothing by her locker; when she returned, her shirt was missing. “You don’t actually take by mistake someone’s clothes,” Gabby tells me. And when it was apparent that she had no shirt to leave the locker room in, other gymnasts started laughing at her.

Even though Gabby’s life had more drama than a Mary J. Blige album, soon she’ll be laughing to the bank. Gabby’s already got big plans for her check, telling Vanity Fair she’s gonna buy an Acura and she’s “gonna get a Bentley too.”

Big dreams, flying squirrel!
