It’s been years, and we’re still wondering why there’s no more Def Comedy Jam. We know it’s not just us.
But, our prayers have been answered and the wait is finally over. And it’s not Def Comedy Jam, it’s even better, seriously.
Russell Simmons Presents The Ruckus, a new six episode stand-up comedy series premieres tonight on Comedy Central. Russell has teamed up with Stan Lathan once again, (they did Def Comedy Jam and Russell Simmons Presents Stand-Up At El Rey together) for this new series.
The hilarious JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everybody Hates Chris, Mr. Deeds, We Bought A Zoo) will play host for the series and will also be featured performing in filmed sketches that will be woven into each episode.
OK, so we have JB as host, and acting. We’re already sold, but, there’s so much more to look out for.
Each episode will feature new material from a mix of rising stars and long time favorite comics. Filmed in NYC, the comics include Capone, who was featured on Def Comedy Jam and is also known as “the gangster of comedy,” Tony Roberts, who was also featured on Def Comedy Jam, BET’s ComicView and has even performed on Showtime at the Apollo, Mike Britt, Ian Edwards, and Owen Smith just to name a few. And, on top of that, The Ruckus features music by celeb favorite, DJ Cassidy.
So make sure you tune in, and you should also probably set your tivos. You really really do NOT want to miss this!
