There's nothing better than seeing a mother and her children spend a long day at the beach together. But it's even cooler when you see a celebrity rolling around in the sand with her little ones!

Gwen Stefani packed up the buckets and shovels and headed to the beach in Marina Del Rey, CA yesterday with her two sons, Kingston and Zuma.

The happy family was heading to a birthday party on the beach and many of Kingston's friends were also in attendance for some fun in the sun.

Gwen spent the day taking pics of her children and their friends, but also shared in the festivities while going in the water and playing in the sand.

Tomboy-ish Gwen has always been a mother who's not afraid to get down and dirty and play around with her children.

The always stylish No Doubt mama was effortlessly cool in a black blazer and printed pants. Who says you can't get your couture a little sandy?
