Letoya Luckett is doing everything these days. She has a role on the hit HBO show Treme, a new movie with Taraji P. Henson coming out and she's currently working on her third solo album. With all that going on, one might think it would be hard to fall in love again, or even have time for a social life! Not for Letoya. After showing up with her ex man Slim Thug at the ASCAP awards, GlobalGrind caught the two of them cuddling, hugging and sharing an intimate moment in the Belvedere Lounge during the Essence Music Festival while old school crooner Charlie Wilson was on stage.
We caught up with Letoya to find out more about her new movie, her third album and of course her man Slim Thug. Check it out:
GlobalGrind: You're in the upcoming film "From The Rough" starring Taraji P Henson, what was the most challenging part of your role?
Letoya Luckett: I swim but I'm not a swimmer and I play the role of a swimmer at a very high level. So working out for that and preparing for that, was challenging because I was doing something that I've never done before. The wonderful thing of being a part of a movie like that it has Taraji P Henson, and Michael Clark Duncan. So I was able to learn so much from them and that was something that had me stressed out before going into it. I was like 'Oh My God all of these amazing actors how would I play against them and how is this going to work', but they made this an amazing experience for me.
How long did it take for you to get the hang of this role and really get into your groove?
I think once you get into the roll and character its' not about you anymore its all about how you portray the role and the work that you do leading up to that, but once you hit that set thats what you're left with.
You have an amazing voice, tell me more about your music?
I'm working my 3rd solo album which I'm so excited about, and that has me in a whole other headspace right now so I'm excited about that.
You're here with Slim Thug, how did you two start talking again?
This is my great friend and he always will be! A lot of times people want to play us against each other. A lot of the relationships I've been in whether it's been the group our him people always want to see us beefing and that's not the case. I'm not even that type of person who can hold a grudge or be mad for that long. I like to be at peace with myself and everybody around me. I love hanging out with him he's so cool and he's a fool. You know we're close to home so being from Houston this is New Orleans so we decided to come down.
Last time we talked you said you would be down for a Destiny Child reunion, what would be the best part of reconnecting with the girls?
I think that would be the best part getting back on stage with the girls again if that was to ever happen. You know we did that for so long at a very early stage of our lives. Who wouldn't want to experience that again everybody is great, everybody is amazing and everybody is talented. I would love to relive that.
