Marques Houston Is Back To Scare Us! (PHOTOS)

Posted August 16, 2011 by Evanka Williamson for Global Grind Staff

Since his Sister, Sister days, Marques Houston has left his “Go home Roger!” moments behind and bounced between his music and acting career.

Marques seems to be settling into the world of film, at least for now.

The actor is teaming up with another singer and tremendously close friend of his, Omarion, for the third time in Somebody Help Me 2, which hits your favorite DVD shop today.

After appearing together in the successful film You Got Served in 2004, the duo is continuing their adventure exactly a year after their horrifying experience in the cabin woods in the first Somebody Help Me, but this time the horror is twice as extreme and Marques’s character has to go to some great lengths to protect his loved ones.

We got a chance to chat with Marques Houston and found out some more details on the terrifying movie and where he’s going with his music career. Check it out below.

GlobalGrind: Can you describe your character in the movie? Has he changed since the first one?

Marques Houston: My character, Brendan Young, in the first one we were in college and we were younger, wild, you know having a good time when we got into the trouble with the guy on the first one. I think in this one he’s more settled, it’s three years later. The situation that happened in the first one made him more mature, made him more of a man and you know, going through a situation like that, it can kind of put a different twist on your life, makes you take life more seriously.

I’m married. My wife is pregnant. So it’s a different situation. I also have my niece who I’m babysitting which is played my actual niece, Chris Stokes’ daughter. Chris Stokes is the writer and director. It’s a different kind of swing to me on this one. It was more challenging to play this one because he had to play a little more mature role and he wasn’t as wild or as bad as he was in the first one, so I kind of had to calm him down and play more of a father role, a husband role. So, it’s a little more difficult.

How was it working with Omarion since you guys are so close?

It’s always good working with O. We grew up together. So, it’s just like working with your brother, you know. It’s like everyday life, cracking jokes and having a good time on the set. We like to have fun together when we work together.

Do you guys ever get into a little beefs or fights?

No, never. We’ve never done that. I think knowing who we are to each other and our relationship, being brothers, of course you’re going to have those brotherly disagreements. It’s never been too over the top where it’s like we’re about to fight or anything.
