Check out our interview below!
GlobalGrind: You’re up for the Best New Artist at the AMAs. How does it feel to be in the running?
Miguel: Man, it's cool when you are noticed. To be considered for the award, I appreciate it. I’ve been working hard for a long time and it’s nice. Every once in awhile someone sees that you’re really working hard.
You’ve been grinding when it comes to your album. Was it extra special to get this recognition?
Absolutely, it was a good project to a lot of people, but there’s people even now that aren’t aware that I have an album out. It’s cool that with every song we put out, more and more people are discovering who I am, my music and it’s very special to be recognized and considered, especially by peers and most importantly, amongst the fans. It’s very special, means a lot.
You did you thing on Wale's "Lotus Flower Bomb." How did you hook up with Wale on the track?
Wale reached out to me awhile back and he’s just been really intent on getting a song and collaborating and finally it came together. He had a vision for the song, he had a title ready, he knew exactly. He came to me as a friend. He's been the homie since day one, so it was just automatic. It’s dope watching people react to the song like they are.
