We reported earlier this week that our boss man, Uncle Rush, was spotted arm-in-arm with the beautiful Miss Universe, Leila Lopes. The two attended the 2nd Annual South-South Awards at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel New York, during the High-Level Segment of this year’s 67th Session of the General Assembly, where they posed on the red carpet together.

It looked as though Russell took Leila Lopes out for the evening, but in fact, Leila was the one who did the inviting.

After seeing our story, Miss Universe said:

I read a story on GlobalGrind saying that Russell took me out [to the South-South Awards] but that is not true! I took him out! I invited him and it was an award that I was honored to receive. I am happy he joined me!

Leila, the UNCCD Drylands Ambassador (she is charged with helping raise international awareness about desertification, land degradation and drought, causes and possible solutions) was honored with an award for promoting sustainable tourism.

From one philanthropist to another, Russell couldn't have been a more fitting date.
