Welcome back! Monday is here and the work week is officially underway. Well, we can't say that we didn't see it coming, so the best thing to do is make due. Luckily for you, we have a got a few things you can do today for nothing money at all. Today's installment of Dollars & Sense focuses on free activities in Alaska.
Visit The Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area:
If you would like to get up close and personal with an actual glacier, there is no place better than Alaska. A block of ice stretching 12 miles from the Juneau Icefield to Mendenhall Lake makes up the the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area. At its widest point, the glacier is more than a half mile wide, with ice 300 to 1,800 feet deep. The US Forest Service Recreation Area is also a good place for black bear viewing between the months of June and October.
