Normally a savage takeover would be splashed across the front page of the news, but when a Savage Society full of artists, tastemakers and some of the biggest names in the industry takes over, we just call it a GlobalGrind party.
In celebration of the upcoming release of the Oliver Stone film, Savages, starring Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson, GlobalGrind decided that there was more to being a savage than pushing involvement with the drug cartel, it is simply about executing in a particular field.
To celebrate the launch of the movie, we tapped into our own savage surroundings and pulled out three of the dopest artists, Ian Kuali’i, Mint & Serf and Gilf, to produce artwork based on the film.
The pieces were unveiled on Wednesday night at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel in New York City, with a savage filled guest list to match. The event was sponsored by Bombay Sapphire and hosted by the infamous Fab 5 Freddy and DJed by the sounds of Dope Roots.
Also in attendance was JR Smith, Duck Sauce, Ricky of Dee & Ricky, Coco + Breezy, the Gym Class Heroes, Ed Lover and Angela Martini, just to name a few.
The night featured the best tunes, expertly mixed cocktails and an opulence that only savage art can bring.
Check out the photos from the event in the gallery above, some behind the scenes footage in the video below and be sure to catch Savages when it hits the silver screen on July 6.
