Dear Terius Nash,

I’m a fan. That might not mean anything to you, but in all honesty, I am not a fan of many people. When I bump your single “Dope Bitch,” I pretend I’m singing it to a special lady in my life. From “Fancy” to “Sweat It Out,” my goal is to have my women singing in a falsetto.

Honestly, I think you’re one of the most talented artists we’ve had in a long time. When it comes to songwriting and making hits, these cats ain’t got nothing on you. But when it comes to being a father, I’m not so sure.

As a single dad, I will never in life question another man’s parenting skills. Regardless if that man is a deadbeat dad or not. But as a father, I feel like a man must spend time with his child. Parenthood and being a father has always and will always be worth more than money.

I understand that you send your child support checks on time. Congrats! You got that Baby Money, and that Single Ladies money. A check should never be late, but some of your comments make me question how you parent.

In 2010, when asked if he helped Christina Milian out with his daughter Violet, he said:

“I don’t because my “helping out” turns into expectations. I’ll get Violet on a late night maybe one or two times, but after that, no. If Christina’s tired, call the nanny, call Violet’s granny. We got people.”

When I heard these comments they struck me a certain way. I thought, is this how rich people do it? Call in the help to raise their children? I cherish the war stories of raising children. The day my daughter threw up on my brand new shirt, or that day I tried to change a diaper and got sprayed.

To say helping out turns into expectations is ballsy to say the least. I would say going up in a woman raw turns into expectations.

Earlier today, when I saw Christina Milian’s radio interview talking about your parenting skills, I felt like she didn’t want to say as much as she did. I felt like she said those things out of frustration from the expectation she had for you.

The-Dream, you’re a busy man. You’re working harder than ever, making hits for you and others is a full time job, but Christina made it look like you’re never around your child.

We’ve only seen a few pictures of you and Violet, but hey, she’s taken care of, and if a woman has to put in 150 percent, then so be it.

All parents should put in 150 – 200 percent when it comes to their kids. Being a father requires time, and girls need their daddies more than anything else. So hop on Skype. Tango. Oovoo. iChat. Something. You have all the ingredients to being a great dad.

All I know is that Christina just made you look pretty bad my dude, and as fan, it might be time for you to fix that.
