It’s that time of year again! Valentine’s Day is upon us.

Time to shower our loved ones in chocolates, flowers, cards and gifts or let everyone know how much you “don’t care” about the holiday, all the while looking back on failed relationships with resentment and drowning your sorrows in pastel candy hearts. It’s OK, happens to the best of us.

Whichever of these two describes you, everyone’s got a soft spot for romantic films. Admit it! Check out our guide to Valentine’s Day Films on Netflix.

How To Be A Player

This 1997 film is aimed at all our Valentine’s Day cynics. Drayton “Dray” Jackson is living the life; he has a beautiful girlfriend, Lisa, and a number of side chicks. Sounds great, right fellas? It was. Until his sister and a friend catch on to Dray’s act and he finds himself caught with his pants down.

A Bronx Tale

Set in the Bronx in the 1960s, this film covers all the bases: racial conflict, mob drama and true love! What more could you want? Calogero, AKA “C,” is a young Italian boy from the Bronx who finds himself taken with Jane Williams. The problem? Jane’s African American and it’s 1960; racial tensions between African Americans and Italians are high. Not to worry, in the end true love perseveres! Others in the film, however, are not as fortunate.

Dysfunctional Friends

Nine estranged friends are reunited under unfortunate circumstances, the death of a lifelong friend. They find that after all these years they don’t have as much in common as they used to. They’re forced to spend the weekend at the home of their deceased friend and work through their differences.

Two Days In New York

Talk-radio host and journalist Mingus and his French girlfriend Marion are happily living together with their cat and children from previous relationships. The two are very much in love and have a seemingly perfect relationship, that is, until Marion’s parents pay them a visit and stir things up.

No Strings Attached

Here’s a film for all our commitment-phobes! Emma and Adam are reunited after first meeting at a summer camp as children. The two hit it off, but neither are interested in jumping into a relationship, so they give being friends with benefits a try, which is all good and fun until someone finds they’ve got more invested in it than they had planned.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s

In this romantic film, Audrey Hepburn proves that money doesn’t buy happiness. Holly Golightly, played by Audrey, is a young charming socialite. She lives alone in a New York City apartment. She keeps her walls mostly bare and refuses to so much as name her cat for fear of committing to anything. Holly finds her world turned upside down when she meets her neighbor, Paul, and the two fall in love. Unfortunately, it’s not without a few issues.

Ghost

Sam and Molly are happy in love until a night out goes terribly wrong, resulting in Sam’s death. His love for Molly allows him to return to earth as a ghost to warn Molly of the grave danger she is in.

The Piano

A mute woman, Ada, finds herself being sold into a marriage in New Zealand. She and her young daughter are shipped off immediately. Though Ada has not spoken a word since she was a child, she is able to express herself by making beautiful music on her piano.

New York, I Love You

This film explores love in all its forms; first love, short love, forever love, unrequited love, and so much more. It provides a little something for everyone, romance, comedy, and drama.

Carmen Jones

Carmen Jones is a young vixen who works in a parachute factory during World War II. She’s arrested for fighting with a co-worker after being reported for coming to work late; a young soldier named Joe is tasked with turning her over to the authorities. Unfortunately for Joe, Carmen charms the pants right off of him and bails before morning!

Good Deeds

Wesley Deeds always played it safe; he lived his life on a strict schedule and never strayed from the path. Everything in Deeds’ tightly wound life unraveled when he met Lindsey, a single mom on the janitorial staff in his building.

Shakespeare In Love

Young William Shakespeare is all out of ideas. His plays are bombing, his theatre is going under, he just can’t catch a break. Then he meets his dream girl who gives him just the inspiration he’s been looking for to write one of his most famous plays. Aw!

Whether you’ve been burned by love before or are still a hopeless romantic, our list has something for everyone. So cuddle up on the couch with your boo or a fuzzy blanket and your two favorite men Ben and Jerry and enjoy!
