Whitney Houston's funeral has begun and the first pictures have been released.  The dreadful day has come where a mother has to lay her child to rest, and the world must say goodbye to a musical legend gone too soon.

The arrival of Whitney Houston's body to New Hope Baptist Church is complete and a somber crowd of friends, family, and loved ones is filling the Newark church to bid their final farewells.

Mourners at the singer's childhood church where the funeral is to be held, bowed their heads in silent respect as three police officers escorted Whitney's silver casket, draped with white roses and purple lilies, in to the church just a few hours before the service.

The hearse drove past flags flying at half-staff to honor the fallen songstress and arrived to a choir in white robes who sang low songs of praise to Whitney.
