Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

The 2013 Oscar nominees were announced this morning, and while his newest film Django Unchained and costars from the film made the cut, Leonardo DiCaprio has gotten the shaft yet again.

According to his IMDB page, the 39-year-old actor has been previously nominated for just three Oscars during his lengthy acting career, which dates back to the early ’90s. The last time he was up for an Oscar was in 2007; he was nominated for his lead role performance in Blood Diamond. Unfortunately, Leo was taken down by Forest Whitaker. C’mon, man!

So what is it that’s standing between Leo and that Oscar? Could it be that he’s just too good looking to be taken seriously? Some would argue yes, but we think Leo is way more than just a pretty face and his performances should speak for themselves. As both a lead actor and in supporting roles, Leonardo DiCaprio brings so much to the table. He’s just sexy enough to pull in female viewers and just badass enough to hold the viewing interest of men; he’s shown that he can play serious roles, but can also charm us with his wit and sarcasm.

Leo first captured the hearts of women everywhere as Jack Dawson in the iconic 1997 film, Titanic, and has evolved and blown men and women alike away with notable performances in films such as Gangs Of New York, Catch Me If You Can, and most recently, Django Unchained

Give the guy some credit, people. He’s done some amazing work and we hope to see that continue. Keep doing what you’re doing, Leo! Maybe 2014 will be your year.

What other actors or actresses would you like to have seen nominated for the 2013 Oscars?
