Just in 2008, Donatella Versace told the New York Times that she wouldn’t make a diffusion line at H&M.

“I respect everyone who does it,” she said. “But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.”

In lieu of the success of the Lanvin collaboration with H&M, it seems that Donatella has changed her mind and is now getting ready to release her collection with the Swedish clothing store chain.

The collection will channel the legacy and heritage of the Italian luxury label by incorporating leather, prints and (of course) a lot of color. The collection, which will include items designed for men, women and home, will be available on November 17th at nearly 300 H&M stores worldwide and online.

Versace has also agreed to design an exclusive pre-spring collection for H&M that’s expected to launch online on January 19, 2012.

Check out Donatella explaining her reasoning behind the collection after the break as well as a sneak peak of a few of the collection’s pieces.
