What’s something most people don’t know about you?
After the documentary, I don’t know. Motherf*ckers are going to know everything. I’m just a 100 percent individual. I just believe in love and loyalty. I don’t think when you get into this industry, that kind of goes out the window. I fight hard for it every day. That’s what people don’t understand. I’m a stand up guy. I’ve always been. I don’t owe a motherf*cker nothing. I ain’t take nothing when I was in the streets and I ain’t take nothing here. Everything I got, I earned and achieved. I just think that sometimes motherf*ckers look at my mystique and my persona as ‘He’s f*cked up because…’ and they don’t know the sh*t you deal with day to day because you’re really from that walk of life. I know I’m not making excuses because I don’t do that. But I think a motherf*cker got to know through all the bullsh*t that I’ve been through and seen, especially in this industry, and how n*ggas ain’t loyal, I’m still a stand up guy. I think that’s not an easy task.
If you could work with anybody, who would it be?
I would love to work with Sade one day. I think that would be dope. I always wanted to work with Jill and I got a chance to do that with this album. I wanted to work with Maxwell and I got a chance to do that. I’m thinking outside the box. Sade would be dope. She’s what it is. It don’t get no better than that.
If you could have any three wishes, what three wishes would you ask for?
To be honest with you, I’d just ask for another day. I’m not tripping on nothing else. Another day above water. One thing that I learned growing up is, you’re gonna get what you get. When you get it, you gotta be blessed. Know that God is good and keep pushing. When I lost my voice, I started getting affected. That sh*t can be taken from you any minute. Before I wish for another Benz or Bentley, I want my voice back. It’s just another day. If it’s three wishes, give me three more days.
What three albums would you bring to a deserted island?
Definitely Tupac’s Makaveli, maybe Reasonable Doubt, and Thug Motivation 101. I’m going to need that anyway to build me a raft or some sh*t.
What’s your favorite thing to do besides making music?
I just like to chill. When I’m home, I just like to kick it with friends and people I really feel comfortable around. I like to get on my boss sh*t and just sit back, close down a restaurant, and just hang with the people I know. Drink good, smoke good, talk sh*t, catch up. When you’re on the road, it’s different. I’m not like an NBA person where once you’re signed, the money is guaranteed. You work every day, you grind, you hustle, so along with that, we have to grind all year long. When you get those two, three days out of the year, when you get to chill, you just want to kick back. It’s all about your friends and your loved ones. If you ain’t got them, you ain’t got nothing.
What’s your favorite liquor?
Right now, I can’t even front, Puff better cut me a check because that coconut Ciroc is like liquid crack. I gotta either go to rehab or something.
What’s the weirdest or most embarrassing thing to happen to you when you were on stage?
The weirdest thing was, I went on stage and when I first started, my core audience was just real street n*ggas and as I went on, ladies started to come to my shows and after awhile, it was a lot of ladies pushing their way to the front because normally n*ggas would be in the front. Before I hit the stage, I look around and see ten pairs of panties on the stage. I’m just looking like ‘Damn, I ain’t do no R&B shit.’ I thought it was weird at first. I’m cool with it now, but the first time it happened, I thought ‘Yo, what the f*ck?’ I thought it was dope because that’s the sh*t you see on TV, like the Five Heartbeats and all that sh*t.
