The 27-year-old was expected to perform at the 2013 Boy Scouts National Jamboree, but in response to an online petition – which has accumulated over 62,000 signatures – started by the gay Eagle Scout member Derek Nance, Carly is opting out of the summer event.

The Boy Scouts have a constitutional right to bar openly gay Scouts and leaders from being members of their organization, but this doesn’t sit well with Carly Rae Jepsen, who took to Twitter to express her malcontent:
The Boy Scouts National Jamboree will take place on July 15-24 in West Virginia.
