Chris Brown has been working on his comeback for the past two years, and is officially the comeback kid of 2010-2011.

It’s been almost two years since his domestic violence incident with ex-girlfriend Rihanna that occurred right before the Grammy’s in 2009. The incident was a blow to his career, his ego, and his fans. Rihanna and Chris, both star-crossed lovers, with apparent anger issues and visible insecurities were thrown from their seemingly almost perfect world of celebrity bliss.

Rihanna struggled with her ability to maintain her role model image, while Chris Brown, the alleged ‘antagonist’ of the altercation, was sent to a place where no celebrity wants to go…exile. Chris Brown fell from grace in less than 24 hours of the incident. No one cared he was a good kid with tons of talent, or that he came from a home where his mother was abused. He had perpetrated a pop princess, and he was deemed the scum bag of 2009.

When pop icon Michael Jackson died, Chris Brown was no where to be found. Everyone knew that Chris Brown adored Michael Jackson, and that the young singer actually got to talk to his idol not too long before his death. Critics wondered if the talented now tainted from his squeaky clean image pop singer would ever reach the levels of fame he once relished. No one knew if he would ever make a hit record again. But guess what ladies and gentlemen? Chris Brown is back!

After his PR fail on Larry King, domestic violence counseling, community service, and his tears of sorrow at BET’s Hip-Hop Awards, Chris Brown is on his way to redeeming himself. Chris Brown released the mixtape ‘In My Zone,’ that no one knew at the time would be his one-way ticket out of exile. Songs like ‘No BS’ and ‘Deuces’ sky-rocketed on the billboard charts, and fans and critics were slowly accepting that he was on his way back up to the top.

Chris Brown, who isn’t attending the Grammy’s this year, is nominated for a total of three Grammy’s and is set to perform on Saturday Night Live tonight. The past two years has been a transitioning period for Chris, and one must admit that his talent and vocal abilities are the reasons why he is back in the spotlight, not because of bad behavior.

Chris has three songs on Billboard Hot 100 and Hip-Hop/R&B charts, which is amazing considering he hasn’t put out an album since his domestic violence uproar. Many people are reluctant to forgive Chris Brown for his actions on that faithful night with Rihanna, but here’s a point that should be made. Everyone should be given a second chance. Rihanna had enough strength and courage to forgive him, why can’t everyone else forgive him? Was Chris Brown wrong? Undoubtedly. But for the next 10-20 years fans and critics can’t continue to scrutinize him for his past wrong doings.

At the end of the day, Chris’ talents, resilience, and his ability to stay out of trouble for the past two years have made it possible for him to remain relevant to music. He made a mistake that is certainly punishable, but like everyone else he deserves a second chance. Chris received his second chance, and undoubtedly is the comeback kid of 2010-2011.
