Let’s use the video for “Anything Can Happen,” the first single off her upcoming LP, Halcyon, as an example.
In the video, Ellie tells a tragic story, from end to the beginning. The video starts off with Ellie lying on the beach, next to a male companion who is bloodied up. From there, we see the build-up to how the two ended up hurt. The video ends with Ellie and her male friend being lifted to the sky.

The video — which was directed by Floria Sigismondi, the director of clips like Katy Perry‘s “E.T.” and Christina Aguilera‘s “Fighter” — is quite beautiful.
