Fresco Kane noted this, and shortly after being signed to Jermaine Dupri's So So Def record label, changed his name from Gena to Fresco Kane.

The St. Louis native was known by his prior name on the rap underground for nearly five years, but his life changed drastically after just one meeting with Atlanta's super producer Jermaine Dupri.
Fresco played his songs for Jermaine, but didn't really catch his attention until it was almost too late.
