Jay-Z and Sade have teamed up to colloborate on a remix of Sade’s “The Moon and the Sky.” The song will appear on Sade’s latest upcoming release “The Ultimate Collection,” a best-of album updating her last best-of, “The Best of Sade.”
“The Moon and the Sky” was remixed by Noah “40” Shebib, who gave the beat a bigger, edgier sound, though the rougher nature of the song is partially in thanks to Jay-Z’s rough style which makes a great contrast to Sade’s smooth, beautiful voice.
But apparently the collab wasn’t that easy to get. Sade turned down many a rappers before she let Jay-Z rap over the song. In fact, Jay-Z, was also shut down by the “No Ordinary” love singer too, before she eventually decided to collaborate with him.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sade politely declines offers to collaborate with many rappers. “I’m too scared,” she tells writer Nelson George. “They’ll find me out. It’s like the Wizard of Oz. They’ll find out nothing’s there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band that does these songs we write.”
