It’s official, people: we don’t call him Jay-Z anymore. Nah. It’s strictly Jay Z.
Yup, that’s right, Jay-Z has officially dropped the hyphen in his name. So it’s no longer Jay-Z. It’s Jay Z.
Got it? Good.
Joe Levy, the editor of Billboard magazine, tweeted out the news:
Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.

Billboard was quick to enforce the new policy. In the story this morning they did about the Legends of Summer tour, they listed Jay Z.
If you had a keen eye for such things, you could see this move coming. In Magna Carta…Holy Grail there’s a song called “Jay Z Blue.”
So there you have it. Now excuse us while we go in our archives and change every Jay-Z to Jay Z #Notreally.
