There was so much talk surrounding Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga’s collaboration, but when it failed to make his good kid, m.A.A.d city album, many people thought the collab didn’t fully develop.

Last week, Lady Gaga proved the critics wrong when she released her demo of Kendrick’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.”

Much to our surprise, the Compton rapper says he had no idea Gaga was going to drop the track.

NEW MUSIC: Kendrick Lamar & Lady Gaga “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”

In an exclusive interview with XXL, Kendrick revealed he had no idea Lady Gaga was going to release her demo version of the song, stating:

“I didn’t even know she was gonna put that out. That was a surprise. I thought she was gonna hold that in the can. I was cool with it. It showed people we wasn’t playin’ with it; we was actually in the studio vibing out when we recorded. For her to put it out even undone, that says a lot. That says she’s confident not only about her work, but my work.”
