Despite my critical assessment and criticism of what I still believe is a mediocre album coming from Weezy F. Baby, Lil Wayne still deserves a round of applause.

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV had a grand opening, and I do mean grand opening, after selling a jaw dropping 964,000 in the first week.

EXCLUSIVE: Numbers Don’t Lie, But Now What Lil Wayne?

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering that Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III sold over a million copies in the first week back in 2008.

Although Tha Carter IV is my least favorite of Tha Carter series, Lil Wayne knows how to sell records. Keeping his fans on their seats with his witty, now sober lyrics, Lil Wayne proves that he not only has the attention of the hip-hop community, but America as a whole.

Performing in white leopard leggings, Lil Wayne had people who were oblivious to his the rap world, asking ‘who is this guy?’

And if you didn’t know who Lil Wayne was at the MTV VMAs, you definitely know who he is now that he’s taught the whole world “How To Love.”

As we all know, Jay-Z is getting older and as his 42nd birthday is right around the corner, the name “dad” will be one of his new titles.

Lil Wayne will soon have the opportunity to become hip-hop’s royal sultan.

Over the past few weeks, I was very critical of Lil Wayne and being a fan of his, I wasn’t going to be jaded strictly by the power of his name.

I critiqued and big-up’ed Weezy for his abilities and his flaws, despite the name calling from devout Lil Wayne fans.

Being labeled a Jay-Z “dick rider” or being accused of “sucking the throne,” by people who take blogs way too seriously has not deterred me from standing by my opinion.

Lil Wayne has the charisma of a leader, the influence of a revolutionary and the heart of a champion, and right now Lil Wayne is winning.

No other man in hip-hop or even pop is selling the amount of records Lil Wayne is, and for that he deserves not only a hand clap, but a standing ovation.

Everything I’ve said may or may not have been said before, but keeping doing your thing Weezy and I’ll say no more!

Congratulations.
