Mama said knock it off, LL.

LL Cool J and his newfound friend, country star Brad Paisley, are glad that everyone is talking about their controversial song “Accidental Racist.”

The two best buds stopped by ABC’s Good Morning America to explain the concept behind the song and why they feel it’s an important conversation to have in America.

LL explained his reasoning behind creating the song, stating:

“Music is about … connecting different people, and building bridges and breaking the rules. If it’s not compelling, and it’s not complex and it’s not interesting, then what are we doing it for? So I think that’s the right move. I needed to do something that was going to be interesting like that, and shake things up, and jump out of the box. I’m really proud of it, and I hope the world hears it and enjoys it.”

The problem with the song is not the issue of race relations, but LL’s frivolous comparisons of rappers’ “gold chains” to slaves’ “iron chains,” with his line “If you don’t judge my gold chains/I’ll forget your iron chains.”

Oh, and we can’t forget LL bigging up Confederate Army General Robert E. Lee and thanking Abraham Lincoln for “setting black people free.”

The debate will continue, but hey, this is America and LL and Brad can sing/rap about whatever they want.

What are your thoughts on LL’s response?
