Today is a great day for Seattle rapper Macklemore and his partner in crime Ryan Lewis

NEW VIDEO: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Thrift Shop”

The numbers are all in, and according to Billboard, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis sold a solid 74,530 copies in the first week.

Despite being independent, Macklemore’s fans came out in great numbers to support the most “prolific thrift shopper” in the rap game.

NEW MUSIC: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Same Love”

While Macklemore released The Heist, his fellow XXL Freshmen cover classmate, Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly released his debut album, Lace Up, which landed him at the number four spot with a little over 50,000 copies sold in the first week.

Seems like being independent is the way to go these days. Mac Miller broke records with his independent album, Blue Slide Park, and now Macklemore is creating his own lane for independent rappers.

The Heist is currently available, so make sure you cop that.

Moving units isn’t easy, so congrats Macklemore and Ryan. Kudos to Machine Gun Kelly as well.
