BLOG: Lines Are Being Drawn In Hip-Hop & Rick Ross Is Its First Casualty

Philly rapper Meek Mill has come to the aid of his boss Rick Ross.

Over the past few weeks, Rick Ross has been under media scrutiny over his “U.O.E.N.O.” rape lyric, and after two unapologetic apologies and countless petitions against him, Rick Ross has chosen to move on from the issue.

While on a press run at a D.C. radio station, Meek Mill was asked about Rick Ross’ rape lyric, which prompted him to say:

“I don’t even care about nobody criticizing no lyrics. People rap about killing stuff all day. Biggie said, “Rape your kid, throw her over the bridge” back then, it was nothing, it was just hip-hop. Now you got all these weirdos on these social sites voicing their opinion about something anybody say. I don’t care, I’m from the hood. I never really cared about what nobody saying in no rap. Rap’s always been talking about killing, drugs, all types of stuff. So you can’t just criticize no one thing nobody say. It’s imaginary visual. If a writer write about somebody getting raped in a movie, that mean he a rapist or he want girls to get raped? No, he just wrote about that in a movie.”

While Meek compares Rick Ross’ lyrics to the screenwriting of a movie, thousands of women from the Ultra Violet organization continue to rally against Reebok’s endorsement of the “Rich Forever” rapper.

Reebok has declined to comment about Rick Ross’ status as an ambassador for the company.
