What’s in a name?
It’s been said that sometimes your name can determine your personality and potential for success – basically one’s destiny.
And when your name is Michael just like the archangel, that’s saying a lot. Maybe that you’re destined for what some would perceive as a divine existence? Far fetched? Maybe not!
Earlier this week, the United States won gold in the men's 4x200 meter freestyle relay, with Michael Phelps attaining his 19th medal, concurrently making him the most decorated athlete in Olympic history. An achievement that was previously held by Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina for 48 years.
Phelps added one more to the 19 medals when he won in the 200-meter individual medley, last night.
But the swimmer who’s probably more adept to the water than Aquaman, is not the only Michael that’s something else.
Michael Jackson was the “King of Pop,” and regarded as the most successful entertainer of all time. Even posthumously, he still holds the title for the best-selling album of all time with Thriller.
Michael Jordon was – and still is – considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time. Why do you think people wait in line every time a pair of new Jordans are released? Not to mention, he has six NBA championship rings, holds the NBA records for highest career regular season scoring average, and highest career playoff scoring average.
Michael Johnson is one of the most outstanding long sprinters in the history of track and field. He currently holds the world and Olympic records in the 400 m and 4 x 400 meters relay.

An honorable mention to GlobalGrind’s editor-in-chief Michael Skolnik. He’s a “Michael” who’s also pretty epic!
