First it’s rumors about Nas ghostwriters, now Missy and Timbaland will not be working on Aaliyah’s new album.

Can music news get any worse today?

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Birdman Says Critics Should “Watch & Appreciate” Drake’s Work On Aaliyah’s Album

There has been so much controversy surrounding Aaliyah’s new posthumous album over the past few weeks. Drake and his best friend/producer Noah “40” Shebib have been confirmed as co-producers on the new Aaliyah project, and once upon a time, Missy Elliott and Timbaland had also been confirmed as taking part in the project.

That is until Missy Elliott tweeted that she had “no clue” about an Aaliyah posthumous album, leaving many people to wonder, “WTF is going on?”

Missy Elliott’s long time manager Mona Scott-Young has released a statement saying that neither Missy Elliott or Timbaland are involved with the project at this time.

Mona Scott-Young states:

“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate. We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”

DETAILS: SAY WHAT!? Missy Elliott Says She Has “No Clue” About A New Aaliyah Album!?

Missy Elliott added her thoughts within Mona Scott-Young’s official statement:

“Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers.”

Welp, there you have it. At this time, Missy Elliott and Timbaland are not involved with Aaliyah’s project and despite reports, they haven’t been contacted to do so.
