Just when we thought Nicki and the jockeys at Hot 97 patched things up, Nicki let it be very clear that she does not need or want the support from her hometown station.
The beef sparked back up when Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up only moved 36,000 copies in the first week.
Hot 97’s Program Director Ebro stirred the pot last week when he credited Peter Rosenberg for “ending” Nicki Minaj’s career based off his Hot 97 Summer Jam pop controversy.
Of course, Nicki Minaj got wind of Ebro’s comment, so she called him up to directly confront him and made a very damning request.

Ebro recalls his phone call with Nicki Minaj, stating:
“I get the phone call, the international number pops up, I answer the call, it’s my friend Nicki Minaj, who then starts to proclaim how I’m fake. She used every woman’s stab she could — ‘I thought you were a man, you’re a cornball, I thought we were friends, you’re fake, everyone told me you were fake. I said, “Nicki I’m helping you. I’m keeping you in the Hip Hop conversation. This Hip Hop thing’s a competition; you’re either ringing, or you’re not, and just like I said yesterday, ‘I love you, boo’ and I’ll dust you off and make sure this thing is popping off again. She goes ‘don’t ever play my music again. I don’t want you to play my music.'”
When asked if Hot 97 will continue to play Nicki Minaj’s music, Ebro playfully responded:
“Of course we are! I love Nicki Minaj.”
In actuality, Nicki Minaj’s low album sales have nothing to do with Peter Rosenberg’s Summer Jam comments, but probably have a lot to do with the limited distribution of the album.
The Re-Up wasn’t sold in Target, who is Nicki Minaj’s largest retailer, or Wal-Mart, and was only accepted in limited shipment to retailers like Best Buy.
Nicki attributed the hesitation to carry her re-release due to retailers citing that re-releases generally don’t sell well.
It’s evident that Hot 97 would love to take credit for Nicki Minaj’s low album sales, but in reality, re-releases never sell.
