It’s been a year and a half since Talib Kweli dropped his last solo project, his 2011 Gutter Rainbows album.

Far too long.

Talib realizes this, and so he’s back again and gearing up to release his fifth solo album, which will come out later this year.

The first song off that upcoming project is “Push Thru,” and it features the talents of Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar

The song was briefly floating around the Internet late last year, but now we get to hear it in its complete glory. The track features the three rappers spitting conscious-minded struggle raps over a soulful, string-and-horn heavy track produced by S1 (also known as the dude that helped Kanye do “Power.”)

All three rappers do what they do best on the track (go in), but it’s the Compton boy himself, Kendrick Lamar, who probably shines the brightest:

“Like kindergarteners, my vision’s bothered by vigilantes that harbor on street corners.

Try your hardest to harvest bundles of weed on ya.

The starving will speed on ya, stampede on ya, impede on your pockets then pee on ya.”

Filthy.
