Yesterday, Naya Rivera sent social media into a frenzy after she said that showering every day is “a white people thing,” and do it “more than ethnics.”

After the Glee revealed she only showered every 2-3 days, many users on different social media platforms began to criticize her comments, which she addressed today, once again, on The View.

Returning for the Hot Topics segment of the show, Naya apologized for her comments, claiming that they were meant to be said in a joking context.

She told the audience and hosts:

“Showering. Biggest topic in pop culture today, in my opinion. Thanks to me, unfortunately. Yesterday, we were talking about a study that says you’re supposed to shower once or twice every three days. I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke. Apparently it didn’t go over so well.”

“It was supposed to be a joke, but I apologize if anyone was offended.”

What do you think? Did Naya need to apologize for her remarks?
