Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her apartment in North London. We are terribly sad about this situation. The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
The London Ambulance Service was called to her flat just after 4pm but were unable to save her life.
“On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene,” a police statement said.
Sky’s home affairs correspondent Mark White says it is believed the singer died of a suspected drug overdose but officially her death is being treated as “unexplained.”
The Back To Black artist had cancelled all tour dates and engagements last month
after a series of erratic public appearances.She had been troubled by drink and drugs problems throughout her career.

It is not known whether Amy’s father Mitch actually knows about his daughter’s death and Sky News have confirmed that he is currently on a plane to New York to take part in a Jazz festival.

Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, is on his way back to London after arriving in New York for a scheduled performance. Mitch was set to play at the Blue Note jazz club on Monday but has canceled his performance to be with family and friends.
According to Radar Online, authorities are set to have an autopsy performed on Amy Winehouse as early as Sunday.
London police are wasting no time in their investigation into the death of Amy Winehouse.
The controversial singer was found dead in her apartment Saturday afternoon, and RadarOnline.com has learned that her autopsy could take place within 24 hours.
“The postmortem has not been scheduled yet but it is unlikely to take place before tomorrow,” a Scotland Yard spokesman tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. “In the case of a murder it can be done within hours but this is not the case so tomorrow or even Monday is more likely in these circumstances.”
