This might be the best news we've heard in a long time. Hip-hop legend and free speech crusader, Luther Campbell "Uncle Luke" is running for Mayor in Miami's Dade County. So how did Luther "Luke" Campbell, the former member of legendary rap group 2 Live Crew, end up on the ballot?
Former Mayor Carlos Alvarez was ousted last month in a recall election which left the field open to anyone who wants to run. The special election is on May 24 and early voting starts on May 9. Viable candidate Campbell has come a long way, today he coaches high school football and is a political columnist.
Whoever is elected the new mayor will serve until November 2012. In the meantime, Uncle Luke has some campaigning to do, he needs a slogan that will capture the hearts and minds of the Dade-county community. And luckily we have those slogans.
