A police investigation is underway into the Weinergate scandal as news is coming out that one of the women he admitted to sending lewd messages to may have been underage. Anthony Weiner confesses he did in fact message a 17-year-old girl but he denies having any type of ‘explicit’ relationship with the teen.
Delaware police went to the home of a 17-year-old high school junior to speak to her about the direct online communications she has had with Anthony Weiner.

The 17-year-old had started following the congressman online after hearing him speak during a school trip to Washington.

Weiner said he sent at least five private messages to the underage girl on Twitter, according to the New York Times.

A member of the girl’s family said the messages were ‘harmless’ but expressed concern that he had communicated privately with the young girl.

The family member told the Times: ‘I am angry. This is surreal and unbelievable. It is absolutely crazy. We are just regular people who go to baseball games and basketball games, as ordinary and plain as can be.’

The 17-year-old had started following the congressman online after hearing him speak during a school trip to Washington.

After seeing that she had written on her profile that she wants to be president, Weiner sent her a private message, which read: ‘How hip am I talking to a future president.’

The girl immediately posted a public message on her wall‘talking to Rep Weiner from New York right now! is my life real?’

A conservative group that had been following Weiner’s activity online after noticing his exchanges with a porn star, responded to the update: ‘@RepWeiner new pal is a high school girl. First porn actresses now little girls. Weird.’

After the message was sent, Weiner stopped following the teen, before they reconnected a month later.

The girl responded to a public message sent out by Weiner saying he wanted to attract more followers on Twitter, saying: ‘Don’t forget me. I used to follow you.’

He began following the girl again on May 16 and they exchanged messages on three separate occasions, according to the girl’s family.

According to Fox News, the New Castle County Police Department arrived at the girl’s home around 4:30pm yesterday and asked to speak with the girl’s mother about the daughter’s contact with Weiner.

Weiner’s spokeswoman, Risa Heller, said in a statement: ‘According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent.’
