According to a new report by The Advancement Project, up to 10 million Hispanics could be deterred from voting during the election year because of Republican pushed voter ID Laws.

The voter ID laws include photo identification laws, requirements to prove citizenship and attempts to remove non-citizens from voter rolls in states like Florida. These restrictions will take place in 23 states and will have a disproportionate effect on Latinos and people of color.

This Republican scheme to keep minorities away from the polls during the 2012 election comes as no surprise, being that polls show that President Obama won 67 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2008 and he currently has a 68 – 26 percent advantage over Romney among Hispanic voters.

Latino votes are going to be crucial in battleground states like Colorado, Nevada and Florida, which have seen a growing Hispanic population.

It’s a shame that Republicans want to revoke the right to vote from certain demographics being that it is a civil right that caused people to lose their lives.
