Mary Ann Holder, a 36-year-old mother from North Carolina, went on a deadly shooting spree Sunday. Mary Ann killed one of her sons, a niece of whom she had custody, her ex-boyfriend and three other people before killing herself.

Holder left behind two notes explaining why decided to go on a shooting rampage, claiming that she had been “wronged.”

Authorities believe Holder was having an affair with a married man that ended with a restraining order being filed.

According to Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes:
“We may never know exactly what her thoughts were and why. We’ve got death. We’ve got drama. We’ve got a situation basically that no one could ever imagine would happen here. This is probably one of the worst situations I’ve seen in my over 30 years in law enforcement.”
Holder’s 14-year-old son, 17-year-old nephew, and the older son’s 15-year-old girlfriend were all in critical condition Monday morning.
All were shot in the head. Holder’s 17-year-old son was pronounced dead on Sunday and her 8-year-old niece died Monday.
According to police, Holder had no history of mental health issues and no criminal record. This is by far one of the worst things we’ve heard, our thoughts are with the family of all the victims.
