SNL has been long known for poking fun at popular moments in pop culture, but the show may have taken it a bit too far too soon when they joked about the media's coverage about the Trayvon Martin case.
The 7-minute skit was meant to be a joke about the media coverage of the Trayvon Martin case, but boarded on insensitivity.
While it is often that a dark situation could use light in the form of laughter, this is not one of them. An innocent young man has lost his life and regardless of the coverage, it is no laughing matter.
The wound is still very fresh for the parents of this murdered teen and watching an esteemed television show make a mockery of the trial is salt to those wounds.
Piers Morgan also seems to have his own quarrells with SNL. He tweeted:
“I think it's time I hosted #SNL -- they're using me every week for ratings anyway. May as well get paid for it... Lorne?”
