It has been over a month since the tragic death of Sanford, Florida teen Trayvon Martin, and with every passing day we are learning a little bit more about the life cut tragically short by an act of senseless violence.
Something as simple as a prom photo, that is supposed to bring joy, now brings painful memories of a life lost too soon.
On February 26th, 2012 17-year old Trayvon was shot and killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman. Trayvon was returning from a local store after buying a bag of Skittles and iced tea.
He was then spotted by Zimmerman when returning home to his gated community. Zimmerman called 911, explaining that Trayvon, who wore a hoodie, a pair of blue jeans, and red/white sneakers, looked suspicious.
Zimmerman pursued Trayvon after being urged by the dispatcher not to do so.
When Zimmerman approached Trayvon, the two got into a scuffle, resulting in the death of Trayvon.
Zimmerman claimed that he shot Trayvon on grounds of self-defense, although Trayvon only had a bag of Skittles and iced tea in his hands.
Since the murder of Trayvon, the entire nation has expressed outrage. An arrest has yet to be made, and movements in protest have erupted throughout the country.
